YouTube

YouTube, if you somehow don't know, is a video hosting site. Because it's owned by Google, it's one of the most popular ones out there.

Compared to everything else listed, I use YouTube the most. As such, I follow a lot of YouTubers, including:

  • Retro tech YouTubers
  • History channels (that's channels about history, not history channels)
  • Other educational channels
  • People that play games (including speedrunners)
  • Game developers
  • Music artists (There's an art to music!)
  • Artists (There's an art to art!)
  • Generally popular YouTubers that fit the above criteria
  • GensouChronicle.

Over the years, I tried adding myself to that list, but 2022 and 2023 did not buy me enough time to drown out that memory.

So, none of the videos I made in 2017, 2018, or 2019-2021 exist today.

Well, at some point I'll actually make stuff worth keeping.

In the meantime, feel free to subscribe here to keep yourself updated when I do get around to making another YouTube video.

SpaceHey

SpaceHey is a smaller social network that, just like Neocities, encourages customization.

I don't follow many people on there, but people I do follow include:

  • Anyone I also follow on other social media platforms
  • People whose profiles I think look really cool
  • Literally anyone who sends me a friend request
  • which I imagine will get out of control fast.

I use SpaceHey as the miracle social media app that everyone thought Facebook was back then and what people likely think MySpace was.

At least, that's how I thought I would use it.

When customizing, like with other things, I went with doing subtle changes that still resemble what my profile page would look like by default.

But I also don't try to make it look like something else. Why would I want WinRAR to look like a built-in Windows program?

Anyway, here's my SpaceHey.

Mastodon

Mastodon is a decentralized social network that blew up in popularity in late 2022. But it's cooled off since then.

I follow a few people on there, including:

  • Artists I follow on other platforms
  • Artists that exclusively use Mastodon and other networks that I don't use
  • Retro tech YouTubers
  • Other people.

But I don't really use it much, in part because a lot of people I follow on the platform for twitterpated twittish twittery twits on the Twitterverse that's owned by the chief twit don't use Mastodon.

In fact, along with a Japanese equivalent of it, I use it the least. In fact, I don't even use that other site anymore.

Since Mastodon is decentralized, there is no single central network people use. But most people use mastodon.social anyway.

People think this whole decentralized network business is kinda complicated, but, honestly, so is email. And you've dealt with that for years, so don't complain!

Anyway, here's my profile, at @cakegamers2451@mastodon.social.

Twitter

It's called Twitter, not X.

To be honest, I don't really use Twitter for much. About the only people I follow are:

  • Artists (most of which use other platforms like Instagram and Pixiv)
  • YouTubers I subscribe to (so I've got YouTube as a backup)
  • Game developers (including popular ones)
  • And sometimes art YouTubers that are also game developers.

I was supposed to've'd a brilliant idea when I joined in June 2022, but it appears...

it'sn't.

Twitter is already known for being a form of cancer in an app, but many popular opinions state that the new ownership of Twitter is further ruining it.

Yep, he really is the chief twit.

Well, that aged well. Judging by the content on Twitter, the chief twit really wants Twitter to be called X. If you've spent any time on Twitter recently, you'll know what I'm talking about.

And now, since the chief twit seems to be all in on AI and right-wings, and he's messed up the block feature, many are moving. And it's gotten worse thanks to the recent election.

Anyway, if you still want to see it, here's my Twitter. But you really won't find anything there.

Bluesky

Apparently, Bluesky is a now-open access previously invite-only social media site that has functions similar to those of the chief twit's app, but it was at one point backed by the people of Twitter of old.

  • I joined long ago
  • When invites had disappeared
  • Let's see who's joining!

There was a huge rush to join Bluesky during the invite system and when it initially opened up to everyone, but it has since cooled off. However, with all the stuff that has been happening recently, people are starting to use it again.

And unlike Twitter, I actually use Bluesky.

But there's another big rush, especially since many people are suddenly moving from Twitter. Thanks, 2024 United States presidental election!

And quite a lot of the people there have the same political beliefs. I mean, it's called Bluesky. (jk, but a lot of people on there hate the future president's guts.)

Wow, this page took a weird turn.

Well, if you don't use Bluesky, go ahead and join it! At least until the chief twit takes it over and kills its userbase.

If you've already joined, here's my profile, at @cakegamers2451.bsky.social.

Instagram

Here's a link to my Instagram profile.

Or, it would be had I had one.

I use Instagram for a few things, including:

  • Keeping up with artists I follow on the app owned by the chief twit (though I might have come on too strong.)
  • Keeping up with my school classmates, 'cause my school classmates are keeping up with me!
  • Making relatable references in projects involving fake social media profiles
  • Because of this, I also use it for inside jokes.

We'll see how well that second reference ages...

I really mostly use Instagram to keep up with classmates and artists. None of my three accounts on Instagram follow each other, though.

However, since Meta seems to be all in on love-- I mean, AI, Instagram seems to be falling out with artists.

Also, I've had a problem on my main Instagram where I can't follow anyone.

And the comments on there always seem to either be quite agreeable or pure cancer with almost no middle ground.

Anyway,
