MMXXIV in Review

As I write this, it’s December 31, 2024. The year is almost up, and I’ve written my annual "taking the rest of the year off" joke. I’m also headed to a friend’s house to celebrate the new year.

2024 has been quite the year for me. That year included two of my favorite school years, my first experience owning a 3DS, spending part of the summer away from home, and keeping my New Horizons streak for almost the entire rest of the year.

Yet, it also included lots of awful stuff happening in the world, including a certain politician being elected, and it also included yet another reminder that I’m getting older.

But I’ll mostly focus on the good stuff, since I have more of that that applies to me.

In January, I got my first 3DS and started my New Leaf town. My father also showed me a picture of a Fumo in his coworker’s office.

In February (feb-ree?), I went to a part of New York known as Lake George.

In March, my secondary City Folk town turned one year old.

In April, I did a grind to get a badge in New Leaf before the Nintendo Network’s end of service. I also managed to see the partial solar eclipse and get my first StreetPass tag (somehow). Aside from that, I went to Hersheypark for the first time (yes, it is written as one word like that).

In May, I got a Nintendo DSi, so the only DS model I have left to get is the original model.

In June, I went to Philadelphia for my birthday (since we missed out on going there during the one school year we were supposed to go).

In July, I got a Game Boy and went out to a summer camp in upstate New York.

In August, I got a 365 day streak on Duolingo and subsequently quit.

In September, I started my school year.

In October and November, I did a bunch of footage of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp gameplay, as that game was going away on Thanksgiving.

And finally, in December, I got a Fumo of my own. Coincidentally, it’s of the exact same character as the one my father’s coworker owns.

So, quite a bit of stuff happened. But we’ll have to see what’s in store for 2025. It seems promising, but I just can’t shake the feeling that we’re in for a bad year.
