東方映塚 〜 Phantasmagoria of Flower View

The 9th Project Shrine Maiden.

This is a Touhou Project game. Here's some info about it.

Basic info

Touhou 9 (as lots of people refer to it) was the fourth Windows Touhou game. It was the last first-generation Windows Touhou game (as long as you don't count 9.5). It's almost completely different from games 6, 7, and 8; it's actually more similar in gameplay to Touhou 3 and 19. Touhou 3, 9, and 19 were released years apart from each other: 3 was released in 1997, 9 was released in 2005, and 19 was released in 2023.

Touhou 10, which was released about two years later, was the first 2nd-generation Windows Touhou game. But we're not talking about that here.

Experience

I started playing it in June 2024.

I managed to 1cc it on June 11, 2024 on Easy.

Music

This is a list of the tracks in the game and where they play.

Other info

For a long time, I had Touhou 6-9 on my computer (don't ask me where I got them), but for whatever reason, I just couldn't get Touhou 9 to work on the computer I was using at all. After about a minute into a match, the game would just freeze and exit.

In June 2024, I started tinkering with another computer, and the game actually worked on that computer.

By the way, Hepburn romanization can lead you astray in some situations (especially if you don't know Japanese), and this game title is one of those situations. The reading used for the last kanji in the Japanese title is つか. However, if you don't know Japanese and you were to type this game title, you might accidentally use ず, which, when using Hepburn romanization, is romanized the same as づ.
